In Depth 11-Week Series

Among other things, CRAFT teaches participants to care for themselves while encouraging their loved one to start or to stay in treatment. In addition, participants learn positive communication strategies that actually work, and they learn to set healthy boundaries. This is the specific help a spouse, or a mom or dad, need to address alcoholism or drug addiction in the family.

CRAFT is a whole different program: Using the CRAFT approach, the person with addiction seeks treatment at a rate of about 65-75%, which is 2-3 times higher than interventions or 12-step approaches.

CRAFT FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Nancy Hamilton is certified as a CRAFT facilitator and has coached CRAFT groups since 2019. "I started with CRAFT as a group participant, and I found CRAFT to be life changing. So, it was important for me to make sure this program be available to the families who need it."

CRAFT Weekly Content:

Each CRAFT session is customized to your unique situation and is interactive as we go through possible scenarios. CRAFT sessions build, one to the next, so it’s important to attend each session.

Session One. Introduction to CRAFT.
Session Two. The roadmap session (functional analysis) where we do a deep dive into the who, what, where, when and specifically the why of your family member's substance abuse.
Session Three. Positive communication skills (first half).
Session Four. Positive communication skills (second half).
Session Five. Supporting clean, sober behavior along with giving and withdrawing positive reinforcement (first half).
Session Six. Supporting clean, sober behavior along with giving and withdrawing positive reinforcement (second half).
Session Seven. Allowing natural consequences to take place without stepping in to "fix" things.
Session Eight. Maintaining healthy boundaries.
Session Nine. Taking care of yourself, first and foremost, no matter how it is going week-to-week with your loved one.
Session Ten. Inviting your family member into treatment/encouraging them to stay in treatment.
Session Eleven. Relapse worry and what to do and say should relapse occur.
